The images are 9 1/2 X 11 1/2 inches. The backgrounds are hand painted, and the image of the lady came from a wonderful CD of images by Ebay seller Joanna Banana. These (like all of my work) are not digitally changed or altered.

I did a little work today--LOL...The first 3 pieces are altered file folders. They are HUGE! LOVE to work on them. They are very thick file folders, probably from the 50's...They measure 10 x 12, but my scanner would only pick up 9 1/2 X 11 1/2 inches.

Here's another large piece that I did. It is 10 x 10 inches.

This is a couple of journal pages that I have done. I have 8 more double pages, as soon as I get enough time to download them for you. I have been absent--did you miss me????? My husband is in the middle of a term paper, and also--it turned COLD here--so my sleep is messed up. (I was a bear in another life, and believe that I need to hibernate..lol). So, between no computer time, and sleeping--I have neglected my blogging. I will try to get back on track.

Hello!! I did this last night--not sure if I like it yet or not...***sigh...nothing much is happening. Sorry that I can't be more interesting! The background is hand painted, the birds are an antique print (it was so beautiful!)..and the rest is just "stuff."...

Lori over at Faerie Window is always asking me how I do these layer things, and she's always trying to figure them out. So, I am going to give her a step by step instruction on the picture below--Hope you all don't mind.

First, I took a 9 x 11 sturdy book page, and coated it 4 times on one side with Gesso. I let this dry, and did the other side 4 times with Gesso. This gave me a good strong paper, that resembles canvas.

Then I took magenta, yellow, blue, red, and green airbrush paint (it's bright, and I love it--and cheap)..and starting with the yellow--I squirted several dots of paint on the page. Then taking a rubber brayer, I rolled it all directions. I did this with all the colors. Ok--the piece was soggy, so then I sat it aside, and went outside to play with Petey the Wonderdog. We played, and fought over his toy, and I chased him, and yada, yada, yada...we had a generally good mommy and doggie play moment.

Returning to my painting..I used black StayzOn ink, and a foam stamp. I went crazy with the stamp, and totally ruined what I had started. So, I squirted more Gesso out on the page, and took a wadded up t-shirt and smeared it around. Then, I took more of the colors, squirted them on the page, and rolled them with the brayer. I then took the tshirt, and tried to soak up some of my mess....LOL...While I waiting for this to dry, I took some foam circle stamp and dabbed white paint on it. I pressed it in the opposite corners of the picture. Still waiting for it to dry, I grabbed a piece of vintage sheet music and tore it, and glued it on. I then took more paint, and squirted it on, and rolled it around with the brayer.

Since the page is 9 x 11, I needed a big picture for it, and found one in my stack. I cut it out, and cut her arm off (this is while watching my 4pm Gilmore Girls show, and letting all the paint and glue dry). I saw a "48" laying on top of a pile, and thought it might look good..and I found the words on the same pile. Then the branch, and then the bird.

So, I cut out my images, and words, and then saw my word script rubber stamp...OHHHHH...I love that one---I picked it up, and stamp, stamp, stamp....just stamped my little heart out all over.

Well, my images were shiny and new looking--I layed them down, took some gesso on my brush, wiped almost all of it off, and lightly brushed over the top of my images. Of course, I did it too heavy, and had to dip the t-shirt in a tiny bit of water (spit works too--but, I wasn't going to be gross), and rub, rub, rub...so you could see the picture again...LORI..are you getting this????

So then, I laid all the stuff that I had just "aged" around on the painting.....re-arrange--re-arrange..oh!! That looks ok...glue, glue...glue....lalalalalala...watching Gilmore Girls...not really caring....lalalalallal.....ewwwwwwwwwwww.....something's wrong!! Oh!! nothing that some red ink won't cure--pick up empty pill bottle---ink it..start stamping the circles....uh huh...better.. need a HUGE circle...looking...looking...(light goes off) Peanut butter jar lid....Sitting right there..ink the lid...Stamp Huge circle...thinking the bird is fading into background....looking for watercolor pencil. Where is it...no...there?...no...OH! there it is--over there, laying on the psychologist couch...(yes, I do have an old leather psychologist couch in my studio..LOL)..get black watercolor pencil...outline bird...watch Gilmore Girls...keep outlining...outline everything.....Gilmore Girls goes off...I'm done..Throw picture in computer room, and go get a cup of coffee.

Woooohooooo!!! Lookie what I did this morning!! It is HUGE!! It looks 10 times better in real life (I am a horrible photographer!!). This piece measures 10 X 10 inches.

Hello!! I hope everyone is doing well!! I don't write much anymore, do I?? Not much to report--SHE WHO KNOWS EVERYTHING (my daughter) went home to Pensacola this past week for a visit. The family was kind of stand-offish to her--So, I have had to listen to that today!

The husband is healing well--and has his mid-terms on Wednesday. He's been taking up all of the computer time, which is one of the reasons that I haven't written. We have been staying home, because I am going through my pre-winter period of quiet and solitude...LOL.

I hope you all are doing wonderfully, and even though I haven't commented much lately--I am still stopping by to see your blogs!! Thank you all for your very nice, kind comments--and THANK YOU so much to everyone that has done our challenge for Fluffy Fatbottom's Twisted Tuesdays!! Tomorrow is our second challenge, and I hope that you enjoy it!!!!

I took a few of these things didn't I???LOL..I don't feel guilty--I just repainted my house, and spent a fortune there...

This is one of the Home Depot big paint chip cards--it's 5 x 6--
This is done on watercolor paper, the fiber on the side is the inside of a binding from an old book.

I did this one this evening--I love the colors! It's really big (7 x 10) and really brightly colored!

changed it to this. (Black border is added on digitally.)

I don't know if I like this--I may need to re-work it in the morning-need to sleep on it. (Never did take my nap.)

This is my challenge for Twisted Tuesdays--"A Fish Out of Water".
My husband went to his arm doc today, and all is healing beautifully!! He should only have about 4 more weeks of the cast, and he'll be all well!

Got the Somerset magazine Workshop Issue today--looks like it's got some great beeswax stuff in it! Also viewed "Altered Curiousities" at B & N, and it looks like it's got some really good instructions in it. They are a little too much work for me--but I am sure that a lot of you out there will LOVE the book!!

Tried to bathe Petey the Wonderdog today--what a joke. I got him all lathered up, and couldn't get him to the hose, so I had to carry pitchers of water outside, and pour over him. Well, got the first one one him--and away under the dirty nasty porch he went. Finally got a couple of more over him...but I am sure that I didn't get the shampoo out. Note to self--if I ever get another dog, he's going to be small and hairless. Tomorrow, we are going to start fresh--I am going to tie him up..which really makes him mad...but que sera...sera (what will be..will be...LOL).

Ok--I have to go--dishes to do, laundry and a nap--probably not in that order..LOL

Well...our first challenge is up and running--and I made a mess of it, have been up all night trying to correct it...LOL. Hope you enjoy!!
