FINALLY!! SLOTIN FOLK FEST PICTURES!! LOTS OF THEM!!

First--Some of the wonderful business cards I acquired at the show. I didn't get to see everyone, as I was partly busy in Paradise Gardens booth--but, I did get a few. (I will list all the sites at the end of the post.)

I didn't take any pictures at the show, so I borrowed from my new friend Tina, and artist Terrell Powell, from Austin, TX was nice enough to give me permission to his photos of the show.

This was one of my absolute favorite artist at the show. His name was William Skrips, an artist from New Jersey. You can see his website HERE. His work spoke to my soul, and I wanted every piece that he had. They were beyond wonderful! This man's work is completely awe-inspiring, breath-taking beautiful!
More of Mr.Skrips work--

These beautiful pieces are from Terrell Powell--the man nice enough to loan me his pictures.

This person's work was also one of my favorites..and has inspired me to try my hand at claywork. (Of course--this probably won't be in the near future, but maybe in a month or two).

Another of Terrell Powell's pieces.

This was the sign at the front door of the show.

This guy (I found out later) is actually from Chattanooga. He was the sweetest person to talk to. He does this awesome metal work, the "clothes" that you see hanging are actually made from rusted, painted metal. UNBELIEVABLE GREATNESS!! LOVED HIS WORK!! His name is Chris Beck, and you can see a few more of his pieces at WWW.CEBSTUFF.COM.
The man in yellow is called Mr. Imagination. He was super nice, and very interesting to talk to. He does the coolest faces with paint brushes, and much more!
I don't know who this artist is. He paints blue cats, and everyone was buying one--I think he has a wonderfully cute face..hehehe!
This man was SO COOL!! His name is Haint, and he does the most detailed, intricate work that I have ever seen in my life!! AMAZING.
This was part of our booth at the show. Half belonged to a woman named Tina (who was the other sweetie that allowed me to use her photos), and half was Paradise Gardens.
Some more of Paradise Gardens stuff..These are mostly Whitney Jones work, and you can see a bit of mine and Nature Boy's things at the edge of the photo.

Here's a very large Howard Finster piece. It was for sale in our booth.
The woman sitting in this picture is Whitney Jones. She owns and operates Paradise Gardens. This is such a rare shot. Whitney NEVER sits still! I have never seen any one person that goes and goes and goes like she does. She's so wonderful!! HI WHITNEY!!:::WAVING::::Thank you for allowing me to go to this show, and be a part of it!!!HUGS!!!!

This was one of the artist' trucks. She calls herself The Chicken Lady. Her truck was Cool!!
and here's Whitney's trailer. She painted it herself!!
Ok..this has taken me most of the morning, so I am gonna stop now. I will list some of the artist, and their websites and more later. I need to get busy now.

STILL PAINTING!! ALMOST WELL...

I realized today that I have SO MUCH to tell you!! I forgot in my absence..that I went on the LONGEST YARD SALE TOO!! I got so much thrifting goodness from that..then I have to tell you about the Folk Fest, and MORE!!! I was tired all day today, but did manage to paint two paintings. They are about 9 x 10, acrylics on wood. Someone commented that I would be painting on my deathbed, and they are right. No sickness is going to stop me from creating art!!
I PROMISE..that I will post tomorrow about the Folk Fest. Right now, I am going to go to bed, and get some rest. Live Artfully!!

COUGH COUGH PAINT COUGH COUGH PAINT

Still feel like death warmed over today. I am steadily coughing up my lungs, running a high fever, sneezing, head achey, blah blah blah...and YET..I still have done two paintings today. These are larger--about 9 x 12..one is on old tin, and one is on wood. I love the way the one on the top came out. I love her!!

I MET MARY FREEMAN AT FOLK FEST!!!

Hello!! Folk Fest was AMAZING beyond words!! We went, we had a complete fun, fun, fun time...and the highlight of it for me was MEETING MARY!!! She is so wonderful, so full of life, and again, I am at a complete loss of words!! I have some pictures--I have many, many links..but unfortunately--I left home Friday morning, came back Saturday night, went to bed, and went to the Chattanooga Market on Sunday. Ok..I am a glutton for punishment...When I got home from the market on Sunday, I told Nature Boy that I was going to be very sick..and went to bed. I woke up about 5 hours later, and couldn't breathe, was congested, coughing and feverish. I am never sick. I KNOW the last time that I had a small cold even. It was 1 1/2 years ago almost EXACTLY. SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED lately..I have about a novel size blog post coming up..but, right now, I am running a fever, and I want to lay back on my couch..with Petey the Wonderdog's little cold nose pressed on my shoulder..I hope you all haven't deserted me. I promise, as soon as I can get this darn fever to break..I will be back with ALL THE DETAILS!! I will tell you this. It was one of the PROUDEST moments of my life. I was a tiny piece of algae on a minnow's tail in a HUGE POND. Next year, I am looking forward to being a minnow...The funny thing is..I am so proud, happy, intoxicated that I even got in the door. If you see something online, then see it in real life--and it is 6 feet tall..and magnificent..it changes you. I am changed. I am ready to take on the art world. I am ready. Live Artfully! ~~Suzan~~

HELLO!! LONG TIME, NO SEE...

Hello!! I did these little paintings sometime last week..the bottom one was done completely by candlelight, while our electricity was out the other night.
Nothing much is going on...at the same time, everything is going on. Right now, I am tired. So, I think I'll write more tomorrow. Sorry to bore you!

Good Happy Monday Morning!!! I am sitting here feeling like I have been hit by a Mack truck..which is how I normally feel on Monday morning. But, as I was having coffee in the studio, I did manage to piddle around and paint this little 4 x 4 painting on wood.

Yesterday at the Chattanooga Market was ok. Not as financially as good as normal--but it was fun. They had a Dog Day, and everyone brought there dogs. It was cool, and I got a lot of puppy love while I was there. My daughter came and visited, and brought her dog Lucy. It was wonderful to see my daughter. I miss her. Her little pug is adorable, and very well behaved.

A woman was walking this little puppy on a leash, and he was not a happy camper!! He would do this jump and roll, and jump and roll, and she was having a time not choking him to death. It was SO FUNNY. I laughed until I nearly had tears in my eyes. I SO wanted to bring him home with me...(he was up for adoption), but Nature Boy and Petey would not LET me have another dog. We didn't take Petey because of his anti-socialism...heheheh.

All in all it was a pretty uneventful, hot day. But, since I only sold about 4-5 pieces, I should be able to play a little "catch up" this week, and have a fantastic selection for next week, and possibly get to work on the huge commission pieces that I have in the works (3 x 4 FEET each), and MAYBE, just MAYBE be able to do some larger pieces for the FOLK FEST. I am sooooooooo excited about that. ...I can't wait.

Well, I need more coffee, and possibly a nap...so you all have a wonderful, happy day!! ~~Suzan~~

Happy Afternoon!!! I have so much to tell you, it's been a very exciting week for me, and on top of it--a bunch of computer problems...but, let's start at the beginning.

Last week at the Chattanooga Market was VERY, VERY good!! We had a blast as usual, and all went well. Then on Monday morning, the lady that runs the gallery that is showing my work called, and asked if I would like to be the gallery's featured artist at this festival:

I am VERY EXCITED about this!! It's a MAJOR SHOW!!!:::HAPPY DANCING ALL WEEK LONG!!:::::: I immediately said yes, and this week, Nature Boy and I decided that if it's ok with the woman who invited me, I am going to ask a friend to join me, and Nature Boy is going to stay at home, and babysit Petey..heheeheh..

We also had a computer MELTDOWN this weekend, and because of a very, very stupid thing that I did, I had to rush the computer to a clinic, and have all of my art files extracted from a messed up hard drive. FORTUNATELY, the guy was able to salvage all of my art files, but I lost a million links, and all of my text stuff. Geesh...How bad could it get. On top of that--our back-up computer only runs with dial up, and doing ANYTHING on it was a major pain!!! But, now that is a thing of the past..and all the stress that came with it is over...But, I will be more diligent in BACKING UP my files!!!

This is Nature Boy's and my stuff that we've done this week...Nature Boy is REALLY surprising me!! He just keeps putting out cool stuff!!!

This one is 8 x 12, acrylics on wood.

This one is 12 x 12 on particle board. Tomorrow is Dog Days at the Chattanooga Market, and everyone can bring their dogs, so I did a couple of dog paintings.
This was inspired by a rubber stamp that I saw on Teesha Moore's site. It is 12 x 12, acrylics on wood.

This one is a "re-work"..12 x 12 on wood.
Nature Boy made an actual working cigar box guitar this week--It's AWESOME!!! It has REAL guitar strings and tuners on it, and Nature Boy's brother was actually able to play it. It is beautiful!!
These are all of the assemblages that my husband did this week. He's fast like me..hehehe

We collaborated on this one--
another doggie painting...

3 little paintings...
another dog...
and another (my favorite of all of them)..
Well..that's all..I have to get busy, and make some more stuff...am working on assemblage dolls and angels for tomorrow!
